The Technical Stuff
DigiWeb our hosting provider has the latest technology. Our total down time last year was less than an hour. We host a number of high traffic websites and they are all very stable.
DigiWeb provides a state of the art hosting facility:
- Servers: All servers are IBM enterprise class rack mount systems with RAID disk technology to ensure that processors keep running in the event of a disk failure. DigiWeb has recently deployed a high availability IBM SAN solution to support it’s VPS clusters and Shared Virtual Hosting environment.
- Security: Servers are housed in lockable 19” rack mount enclosures. The server room itself is a “room within a room” with no external walls. Entry is via a security locked door accessible only via DigiWeb customer support department by authorized personnel.
- Internet connectivity is provided by a multi-homed fibre optic connection via TelstraClear, and Telecom (via Snap Internet) with a 1.0Gb per second connection to the newly emerging dark fibre and Christchurch Internet Exchange. International bandwidth is provided via TelstraClear diverse connections with BGP routing to Telecom via Snap Internet who in turn uses several National and International carriers including Reach, AT&T, Asia-Netcom, and Global-Gateway.
- Network connectivity is via Digiweb’s dual redundant CISCO router configuration, each router with dual power supplies. Each router has two physically diverse connections to Digiweb’s upstream internet providers. Internal core network is based on Extreme Networks Black Diamond switches with dual power supplies, backplanes, blades and operating systems. This redundant high availability network provides 1Gb/second throughput from server NIC to internet edge without any single point of failure in the network core. Optional bandwidth management and intelligent network services are available based upon technology deployed from Allot networks. http://www.allot.com
